Daniel D. Weston, Chairman--Lobbying ActivitiesActive in the brokerage and financial community since 1950. Continuously involved in the process of capital formation for small businesses. Politically active in the passing of the Small Business Investment Act of 1958 resulting in the creation of Small Business Investment Companies ("SBIC's"). Registered continuously as a Lobbyist with the U.S Senate and the House of Representatives from 1983 to 1995. For the past 14 years, has been included in, and has actively participated in the Government-Business Forum on Small Business Capital Formation mandated by Congress to be Sponsored by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Elected in 1986 and appointed in 1995 as a Delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business representing the State of California. At the White House Conference of 1986, the Delegates voted the Weston Proposal concerning BDC's as one of the top 100 issues, resulting in the Conference's endorsement of HR 1658, which legislation was subsequently incorporated into the Tax Reform Act of 1986. At the White House Conference of 1995, the Delegates voted the Weston Proposal concerning protection for Small Investors as one of its top 100 issues. Appointed a member of the California Senate Small Business Advisory Council and designated by the Council as an expert witness on legislation concerning California "Blue Sky" laws. Individual proposals regarding beneficial changes for Small Business have been recommended to the State legislature by the California State Conference on Small Business. A former Senior Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of the California State Conference on Small Business and a Founding Member and Director of California Small Business United (CSBU), affiliated with National Small Business United (NSBU), an organization comprised of more than 40,000 small business owners. Appointed to serve on NSBU's Task Force on Privatization. Served as a member of the Small Business Council of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. A Founding Member of Small Business for Advertising Choice (SBIC) and a Charter Member of American Financial Association (AFA).
